The Battle of the Night.

I salute you O great warrior, for you have lived the night through.
Your eyes have opened to the dawn of a new day, I am happy for you.
Dear warrior, I know, the night was harsh and cold.
But, you've come this far, you survive every night, so strong and so bold.

Great warrior, they do not know
of the battles you fight before rest.
The thoughts of the day, the hopes and expectations that they
have, by your conscience are put to the test.

For no battle can be won, when the enemy is yourself,
No warrior can kill, not when he himself is screaming for help.
Because the battle of the night, brings more than just fright,
It asks for courage to sleep and to awake with more might.

But you survive, you survive the raging wars and the battles of death,
Where thoughts drive away the enemy and peace is made with self.
And that victory dear warrior, is to be celebrated with dance and song.
For you chose to sleep, and do to your enemy no harm or wrong.
